cage doors

Post by alexbrgr » Tue Jul 05, 2011 6:40 pm

I have just finished building my bird cage and was trying to figure out how to build an easy door. It is made out of 1/2 mesh. Any ideas or picture would be helpful. Thanks.

My hubby used some old , no longer used metal hangers to frame the mesh. Just run it through the holes in the mesh to the size door you want and cut. 8)

He only cut 3 sides, for the open side he made makeshift pins that slide into their holes in the wood of the aviary.
I will take pictures in the morning to show you.....the birds lights are out right now.

I got some metal clamp used to make cages, and loosely clamped it so it will swing. I can't remember where I got it from.
Small cable ties will work similarly.

Morton Jones has lots of stuff for cages including a cage door kit.

It is especially nice as it has the door guards (I was really tearing up my hands) and you can buy any one of several sizes. Then you just cut it out and the door is easy to install and comes with very strong latch. I cant remember if it comes with the hog rings but any hardware store will have those.

That's the company I used also.

I used the cage clips.

You really need the cage clip plier to install the clips.

For the latch I used the finger loop spring hook.
