Bought myself a new HD camcorder so thought i would try it out with a video of the birds, they were enjoying a bowl of fruit so i thought it a perfect time.

I bought some bengalise finch on saturday sadly one seems to have a deformed foot (light brown one on perch) and although it does slip on the perch from time to time it doesnt hinder it at all.

The zebra finch are pairing off , its like nest building central in the roosting section and we already have plenty of eggs so hopefully should have plenty of young soon enough.

Ive found a guy local to me that owns a bird auction and pet shop and he is happy to take any finch from me when there ready to go so thts nice knowing i can find homes for them easy.

Sorry about some of the out of focus shots im still getting used to the camcorder and it likes to autofocus on the mesh

Yeah the little male zebra is having trouble flying, he looks like he is holding his wing slighty down so i think he may have hurt it a bit, he can fly a little but not alot so spends alot of time on the avairy floor, so i put the coconut there for them to sleep in. Ill keep an eye on him and if it doesnt improve ill take him to the vets.

I put him in one of my breeding cages to rest for a while and the little hen kept trying to get in with him so i put them in together but to be fair after a couple of days i let them back out and even thogh she can fly fine she still stays right next to him all day long.

Sounds ike a very bonded pair!!! Hope he recovers!! It might be a soft tissue injury that perhaps with time will heal.

Yeah thats what i thought, he is eating/drinking fine, singing along chirping and seems very happy so given time i hope he will be fully mobile. There both very young the hen looking more so so hopefully this will aid recovery.

Very nice aviary! =D> They are lucky birds to have so much room to fly.

I hope your not angry though if I make a couple of suggestions: it looks like all perches are the same thickness? It might be nice if you replace a few with natural branches. It's good for birds' feet to have various thickness to perch on, and they might like the more natural feel. Also, have you thought about a few fake plants maybe, so rhe have something to hide in? For the birds above as well as for the buttons on the ground... My button quail like to sit under fake ferns and snuggle into timothy hay that I put down. :-)

I like the breeding "station" with all the little boxes. :-) =D>
