I've read how a lot of you have used artificial plants in your cages rather than real plants and ventured out today to buy some. I ended up with an aquarium plant, (someone said they had used these) I was going to drape it into the cage from the top but when I got it home there is glue holding all the pieces onto the stem...I have not put this in the cage and wont (not sure how fish live with the glue)....I realise most of you are in the US etc and I'm in Oz but I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to get something that would be safe & suitable for them?
....and while I'm here, does anyone know if gumtree branches are ok to use in the cage as perches? (I remember reading somewhere gum leaves arnt safe???)

The glue used in aquarium ornaments is often simply silicone sealant, which is non toxic.
If there is excess that your finches might peck loose, just take a razor blade or hobby knife and trim it flush with the base.

Finches are also not so much like parrots/parakeets and don't chew stuff as much. So I wouldn't really worry about it. I mean, if it is safe for fish, it is probably safe for birds.
