Any opinons? Anyone know how many zebra finches could comfortably kept in this cage? I have 2 males currently.

I have this exact cage and it is great! Great for keeping the outside clean! However, I would just keep 2-3 finches in it as that particular one is not really that big. But when you are talking male zebra finches, I would just stick to the two you have.

I have to figure out what to do with the 2 boys I have, because they are fighting alot. I took the nest out, but they are still picking at each other alot. I might have to return one and get a female or something. I am going to get the new cage tomorrow. Not sure what to do until then.

Not sure I want Zebra finches, I did not know they were considered pushy. So I was thinking of getting some Java finches, being they are passive. This way, if I ever decide to expsnd my birds, I can add others to a cage. I'd rather stick with the passive species.

Is that a bad thing?

PS. The cage I wanted was the Hagen Vision II, Model LO1, Large. But I can't find it anywhere without having like a 40 shipping charge attached.

Try Ebay. The cage comes in two boxes.

Go to Hagen at http://www.hagen.com/usa/birds/product. ... 3000021101 and do their locator for retail outlets.

I don't believe that javas are necessarily passive. In fact, I think they get pretty aggressive when breeding. I would really consider getting some societies for your situation. They are the nicest finches! Or maybe some waxbills. I love the waxbills!

I am planning on getting 2 cages. I want to keep my boys if possible. So we will try the bigger cage. If not,I will take Skittles back and get a female for Marshmallow. I am really attached to him the most.

I am planning on getting a few socities for the 2nd cage. How many could go into the cage in the original post, comfortably?

I did not get that cage for several reasons. The first one being that when I checked online it was only 57.00. I get to the store and it is 78.00! I called and asked 2 days ago if prices in the store were the same as the website, I was told yes, that they match them. Then when I got there, they refused.

Then the other reason was the lady that assembles these cages said there were alot of these returned, that they are not worth the money. They break easily and are extremely hard to clean.

So she showed me some alternative cages, and I am very happy with the one I chose. It is pictured below. It is made by Clean Life and the dimensions are 24 x 14 x 33. The only thing I don't like about it is, that it only has one big front door. But I can hang a towel over the outside of the door when I open it to discoyrge the lil guys from flying out I guess.

What I absolutely love about it is, they have lots of flying room, and I woke up to no sees on the floor! Woo Hoo!

I have that exact vision cage. It is a little tricky to clean but over all I really like it. Have had the cage for almost a year and no issues, nothing broke and the birds all seem very happy in it. I have had four finches in it, currently three, and they certainly did not seem crowded at all. I would not think more than 4 though for this size. Almost wish I'd gotten the large.I think I paid about $69 for mine at Pet Smart.

Yes, I really loved this cage, but then I found this one:

So now all my finches are in much bigger cages for not that much more!

I like the one I got at Petsmart, it was only 60.00 or so. They seem to really like it alot. They fly all over the place. They like the water cups too LOL, they bathe in them. No big deal. It does not make too much of a mess.
