Old Canary Cage?
ong story short, my grandma gave this old looking canary cage. It is kind of small, but i'll describe it. It is silver colored, and all metal. The tray and bars, and the base is metal. It has four glass pieces, on for each side that slide into place, they go about half way up the sides of the cage and I think they are there to keep seed in. The front and back glass piece have a design on it. There are two bars missing on each side. I has four little plastic feeders, two covered, and they are all very shallow. It also has one china covered feeder, which fit perfectly into the space where the two bars are missing. It is heavy when lifted, and belongs on the metal pole bird cage holders with the hook on the end, but I don't have the stand. Can anybody tell me what I should do with this? It seems to small to house birds but I want to keep it because it was a gift.

Re: Old Canary Cage?
Dante...those are the cages my mom had back in the 60's!!! I loved those cages. A small pair of finches or a single parakeet, even a canary occupied our...we had rows of those cages hung from the wall, all in a row with canaries in them...
They don't make cages like that anymore...I would love to get my hands on some simply for the glass seed guards, they were a blessing which I wish cages now a days had!!!

and yes, I bet the glass seed gaurd is a blessing, even when I have tried plastic ones on newer cages, they do not work.

Re: Old Canary Cage?
thats pretty cool!
would love to see pictures.
I would just be concerned about size, and if the metal the cage was made of is now safe for the birds.
If not you could always use it as a display cage. you could even put a nice plant in it
