Interesting set up. Why do you refer to "the dark area" for RTPF and Jacarinas?

Hi Deborah

I found that in every aviary set up I have had that the Red Faced Parrot Finches and Jacarinis have chosen an area with less direct sunlight and more filtered light. That is why I deliberately created an area in my new aviary where they have a view to the elevated walkway entrance but not in direct sunlight. My PRFPF exclusively use the nesting area farthest away from the sunlight to nest-way up the back to the right of the entrance to the nest box area. The Jacarinis nest in tea trees and dried bottle brush about 18 inches off the ground. For ease, I call it the dark area.

Kenny

most OZ breeders brush their aviaries. I start a 21 foot extension Monday, so I will take pics as the construction progresses
