I am going to experiment with a new wire tube nest... If I like, I will start selling them at the store

The do look pretty, especially the bowl nest.

Nope, I don't think it would harm any birds. I would imagine the birds would stuff the nest full of nesting material. Not poop on the wire itself. The outer bands are a heavy gauge galvanized wire so poop at the entrance should be a problem... I am sure they will hold up longer that the bamboo wicker or the loufa fiber ones. But I always test before I sell, like I said...if I like I will sell them

did you make them Candace? They look really nice. How would you hang the tube nest? is it attached to the top of the cage?

Candace...they seem safe material wise...they are so pretty, thinking more about the look of them and birde poop.

You will have to keep us posted on the building ot he nests with pics of course!! Those are the cadillac of nests!!!

Beautiful nests -- those things have got to last a lifetime and be easier to clean than the bamboo and some of the others for sure.

No I don't make them ... I am good with my time but I don't have that much free time. Heck, I still haven't found the time to finish all those birdhouse gourds I grew....
I know somebody that will make these for me. They are expensive but if they last they will be well worth it

The tube nest has a block of wood attached. The thick galvanized wire goes through the block and is secured well. Then their is a screw bolt that attaches like screw on perches...but this screws to the top of the cage instead of the sides.
The copper wire is secured to the thicker galv. wire by plastic coated wire.

owls, zebra (they use anything!!) waxbills.....societies

Lots of your small waxbills seem to prefer them. Like strawberries, goldbreat, orange cheeks, cordon blues.
I usually offer an assortment of styles of nest and let them pick the one they want. Surprizing how many do pick the tube nest.

If any one wants to try the wire ones just PM me. I will get one made for you. The cost is $20 plus shipping I know...expensive but if I find they hold up for several years then it will be a good investment...plus how cool do they look
