Shall I paint my walls white
Hello all, im in the process of making my birdroom/avairies, iam having a 12 x 10 feet shed, with 2 18x12feet flights at either end, the shed will be divided into 2 inside and it will be lined with plywood. My question is, shall i paint inside walls white, or shall i leave natural wood colour? A local bird breeder says not to paint as breeding finches get spooked easily against white background, i was all up for painting untill i spoke to him! What do you guys think? Thanks in advance, Gaz.

I have not heard about finches being spooked by a white color. My finches are all up against a white wall in my bird room and seem fine. As far as painting, make sure you use a child safe paint and don't put birds inside until the paint and fumes are completely dried and gone. Look forward to pics.

I would paint it so you can wash it down easier. It's amazing how birds droppings can go anywhere. Unlike the name they don't just "drop it" straight down...
Instead of white, what about a more natural backdrop, like a lighter/medium green? Just a thought...

I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

I've done mine white Gaz...no problems, and as most droppings are white they don't show up so much in between paint jobs.
Drop me a line Gaz...I'm just a few miles away..I'd like to see your set up and have a chat.

Re: Shall I paint my walls white
I'm in the process of developing a small Avery. I intend to cover the walls with a plastic white board, available at Home Depot. Cost is about $45 a sheet. When I'm done, the entire room will be plastic/metal. The Avery will be just 5'x3'x6.5' tall, but essentially all cages (Zebras & Societies). My thought is exceptionally easy clean up & in the event I ever have an infestation of some sort, that it should be easier to rid myself of the pest (no wood). Currently my birds are doing very well in a white room...
