My bird needs to go into a new cage while his other cage is being remodeled. I'm considering a cage that's 32x21. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a temporary cage. With this size, can a green singer fly a U-turn at the ends, or would he have to stop at each end (fly/glide laps)? At first I looked at 18" depth (really save money!) but I don't see how a finch can fly such a narrow turn.

I have a 30x18 I use as a breeder and the zebras can fly to one end, swoop around to the other end. But this is the smallest width I'd personally go. The larger you can get the better, but the 18" width is not bad, especially for a temporary cage and money saver. My birds have room to fly and stretch in it, just try spacing the perches on different levels of the cage, that way they must flap their wings and not hop. (I swear my birds are lazy)

Thanks, Dante, as long as some swooping is possible, I'll go with the 18". I'll have to use only two perches, one on each end, and like you said, one high one low. I'll save money!

No problem, I'm sure it will be fine for a green singer.
