Show Cage

Post by managermania » Sat Feb 25, 2012 1:21 pm

Here is the first stage of construction for my "show/mart cage". It is a picture frame installed in this 24" breeder cage. Next I will install an 18" T5 full spectrum compact fluorescent inside the cage. The light will be slim-line so it will be difficult to see. I will then make a box that it will sit in where the front and back will be open and sit at eye height. The plan is to have 2 of these for the marts. We'll see how it turns out. More pics to come.

How cute is that!!! Love it.
One note to consider... maybe replace the glass with plexiglass.. some kid or someone could accidently break the glass... then bye, bye birds or worse... liability for someones cut arm

I stole the idea from Joe at our last show...actually he said I could copy it. :)
He shows beautiful Gouldians with his set up and they looked stunning under his lights.

FYI... I picked up a Coralife T5 fixture from an online retailer for my Flight Cage - it has two T5 lamps. One is a little "redder" than the other, but it really makes my feathered kids "pop". I was surprised how thin (low profile) it was. Looks like it comes in a 24" option.

I told my husband today after we left the show that your cages were really cool and definitely showed the best. It was nice to see some cages that didn't have 50 finches crammed in them to sell. You can tell you have a lot of pride in your birds! Thanks again for the shaft-tail! I can't wait to get a pair of owls from you as my next adventure!

I can only second that!! The owls that I got from Chase today are pretty and healthy looking bird, you can tell that they were well kept. The table behind yours (and I don't want to name names here, a regular at the bird shows in Atlanta) had dreadful looking birds crammed into tiny cages...

Thanks, Chase! =D> :-)

I know what you mean... Misty's and Chase's setup was the best in the building of the people who had finches. I hope you guys had a lot of luck with sales!

Thank you so much! That makes my day.
I really love these birds and try and give them a ton of TLC. Honestly one of my top 2 fears of selling birds is that something will happen to one of them. If that were to ever happen, I would certainly refund or replace.
The only reason I attend the marts is so I can place the birds in hopefully good homes (achieved today) and make enough money to buy more birds, seed, and supplies. I also love seeing and chatting with the other bird lovers out there.

Thanks again y'all! 3 Forum Members at the Mart today=Awesome!!!!

Congrats on the sales Chase... it's the greatest to have your "babies" go to such good homes... and that you will get constant updates on them..since many went to forum members  I can't wait to here about them and see pictures of them in their new homes :D
