My enormous entertainment center is well on the way to being converted to an aviary.

That should make a dandy aviary/flight cage.

I have finally moved "the carcass" of the aviary/flight cage from the garage to the house, and put it up on its base cabinet.

Now to attach the side doors, the backing, glass in the front, all the last-minute things . . .

I hope to get it finished this weekend, and start moving birds into it this week.

Finito!

Must leave the front covered until the birds get accustomed to it, so not much to look at yet.

So the side panels are screen and the front glass? What did you use in the back??

The back is 2 sheets of perforated aluminum that were meant to be decorative covers for old-timey steam radiators, same backing I used for my other aviary/flight cage:

It provides good ventilation and is A SNAP to clean.

Looks very nice. Do the front doors open at the top and bottom? Did you put in small access doors on the ends?

The sides have 3 small doors that can be opened one-at-a-time or all at once to make a large hole. Large enough for a tall fat lady to lean in with her drill and add last-minute fixtures (before adding birds, of course).

The front glass is actually behind the doors -- I left the doors on to conceal access to the bottom trays. Wasn't that clever of me?! So anyway the doors are just framework with big holes in them which amuses me no end.[/i]

Ah yes, I now see the three little doors in the previous pic. I don't know how I managed to miss them the first time I looked at that photo.

I'm sure your birds are very happy in their new home.
