Cage lighting

Hi there,
I have a pair of goulds in a temporary cage till their new cage arrives. I'm thinking that the full spectrum light that I have attached may be too bright for the birds (please see photo) I'm concerned that the new flight cage, whilst wider and deeper is not as high therefore the light may be evn brighter to them.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I think it is fine, I wouldn't go too bright. My uncle has a shelving unit in his bird room (shelves attatched to the wall) and the top row cages are right under the lights, they seem fine

Thanks Dante,
They seem happy enough as they seem to try and hide from it, guess I just need reassurance still :?

If you are worried about the brightness you could always put a fake plant draped over a bit of the top. This way they can get "away" from the light and go in the shade if they choose.

I can't tell from the photo, but if it is an incandescent bulb, it could generate quite a bit of heat, perhaps too much for them. If it is a CFL, then it would be fine.

Hi Sally,
It's a CFL bulb so should be ok I think

I would add the plant, I do the same so they have shady areas to nap or relax in. If the light is new perhaps they just need some adjustment to it.
