Sand as a substrate?

Post by Sasha2 » Wed May 30, 2012 10:39 am

Can I use sand in my outdoor aviary for the bottom? I will be having diamond doves, society finches, a female pair of zebras and maybe a pair of either canaries, cordon bleus or some other songbird type finch.
They wont eat it will they?
Its a raised aviary so Dirt or gravel is not really an option.Sand is easiest for me to get locally.

I used sand in the bottom of my aviary for years without a problem.
