I found this site while Googling.
I like the idea of shades to keep birds from escaping ,while cage doors are opened.
Mine has them.

Re: Design Suggestions for Easy Maintenance
Escape doors work really well. I have three aviary doors that open into the escape room. One main aviary and two smaller side ones. Before I built the escape door I had a normal rectangle 12 feet long and 6 deep. It had one door in the middle and two side doors 18 inch squares. I lost: Two Forbes parrot finch hens and a heavy pied red throat male.
Luckily I got them back. It's pretty upsetting seeing your favorite pied parrot finch male sitting 30 feet up in a tree! Once I had the escape door built it stuck out and looked funny so I added a door on either side and made two side aviaries that angle out. The entire thing is roofed and pitched away so you cannot see the roof. I put black shade cloth around the sides and back in the summer and clear plastic on the front and heavy tarps on the back for winter. The escape area helps me catch birds as well as band them in that area. I strongly recommend them.
