Shades for an aviary

Post by MissEdie » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:27 pm

Would shades help with night frights,so nothing startles the finches?
Or are night fights something that just happens with them?
I have a Pair of Canaries.I also have an Aviary(video) with a bunch of finches in it.
Red cheek Cordon blues, Owls,Star finches, Green singers,Fire Finches, Orange cheek wax bills and a lone Orange weaver.

I think the best thing for night frights is a small light. It won't necessarily prevent night frights completely, but it helps the birds find the perch again and settle down quicker.

I'm not sure you could ever prevent night frights because of all the different reasons they happen. Like Sally said, you'd be better off doing something to help them find the perch again then try to stop them getting scared.
