Poop cleaner?

OK so I need to clean some poop and was wondering if anyone has used the poop cleaner stuff in the pet store. Does it work, can you just spray and wipe?? That's what I'm hoping for. Usually I end up taking half the cage apart and giving it a "shower", literally.

HillJack...I do use both the Poop-Off and a Vinegar solution. I love the fresh smell of the Poop-Off and it works great even if it is a little pricey. I use the Vinegar/Water 1/2 & 1/2 too and it also works great and is much cheaper if you can get past the smell...lol! :-@

I had just purchased a new bottle of Poop-Off and it had this strange "after smell"....kind of like a dead mouse smell. Then I heard some others on different message boards talking about the bad smell and I got a hold of a guy at the company and here is what he wrote me. They are replacing the bad bottles for anybody who requests. At least they are good about that!

What he wrote:

"Your nose is not playing tricks on you. We learned that the preservative we were using suddenly caused the enzymes to come active inside the container and this caused the change in scent. Wait some time and you will get black specks inside the bottle. Believe me, this issue has been a nightmare for us. We first thought the problem was dust inside the container. Then we believed it was some sort of weather issue after it left our factory, ss this has been an issue in the past. Now we learned the real cause was that our preservative supplier company changed owner and the new owner decided to stop using the raw material supplier we have them buy from. They found a cheaper supplier. The new preservative they provided us did not keep the enzymes in a non-active state and thus the scent and black spot issues. We have changed suppliers to the old formula and have corrected the problem. However, we have thousands of bottles in the retail market. We now have fresh containers with new product in stock, so please send us your shipping address and we will replace your containers. In the email to: david@poop-off.com please reference replacement of bad Poop-Off Bird and the size to replace."

And then ya just KNOW theres gonna be the NON Poop off fan come along, lol

I just wasnt impressed with it, And I really dont like the bottle, Maybe if it wa sa spray on rather than the drip out and scrub with the plastic end brush.

But to me it just doesnt seem to cut through the poo all that well,
but then I have the Messy Sun twins, SIGH., lol

Fancie Flight- I have a spray bottle of poop off, so it does come like that. The scrub brush bottles do suck. That's what the other cleaner I got came in. What do you use?

I use Marigold's suggestion of a piece of cardboard to chip off the chunks, then the poop-off wipes. They work best if you can do a first pass to wet down the cage with the solution, then go back over it after it's softened up.

Maybe I should just put the poop off in a different botle then give her a try again.

And I have a plastic umm oh what ya call it like putty knife thingy, thats what I hit the chunks with.

Sounds good. I like the vinegar and water idea. I think I can get by the smell. Its the birds I'm worried about, but I assume its OK since you've tried it. I might just get some in a bottle. I dont have any "thick" areas so I don't need any scrub pads. It all the extra um..film..thats left on the perches and cage bars thats hard to get off. Maybe I can call Mike Rowe over for a dirty job?? No..he already did one on pigeons. (I love that show)

Just wanted to add that for the "super poopy" messes I use straight vinegar...it works faster than the half & half.

A clothes pin on the nose is the only required equipment when using full strength. :P

Does the smell of the vinegar not bother the birds? Id rather use than that the poop off.

I know I've opened a few bags of salt and vinegar chips and almost passed out!! I could probably use the lining of the chip bag.

I was in petco this weekend and was going to get a bottle but I ended up getting my bird table. I put two cages on a 72" table and there isn't much room left. Anyway the smaller cage got a nice bath and...well I'm having an issue with aggressive behavior all of a sudden so its being temporarily occupied.

I like the idea of vinegar.....I have some Poop Off but the smell is so strong for me that I dilute it a bit in warm water and use that to wipe down the cage.
