Plans to downsize - advice needed

Post by finchandlovebird » Mon Sep 17, 2012 5:29 pm

I am planning to sell my waxbills & canary pair. I am planning to take them all out of the aviary they share & put them in individual cages until I sell them. Also, can take better pictures of them. I then want to devote the aviary to Gouldians. Please let me know if you think these size cages will be alright for them for a while.
pair orange breast waxbills 8-1/2 x 11 x 16 High

pair orange cheek waxbills 10 x 13 x 15 high

pair RCCB 16 x 23 x 16 high (I'm sure this is fine for them)

pair canaries 17 x 17 x 16 high

How long will they be in those size cages? The smallest I have any of my OCW's or RCCB's is 18x14x 21. If it's not very long, they can do alright, but they like to fly away if anyone gets too close and if they don't have enough room to fly, they can hit the cage side and die. I lost one that way, when I had him temporarily in a small cage while I moved others around. He panicked and broke his neck when he flew into the side of the small cage.

I figured a couple weeks, until I sell them. I can take pics better once they're in a small cage, and it will be much more convenient when I get a seller to catch them, rather than in the aviary.
I was thinking it would be ok for them for short term.

Too bad we don't live in the same country, I would buy them. I am doing the opposite. I am selling my gouldians and other finches, so I can concentrate on waxbills. :D
