FIXER UPPER

Does anyone know what kind of paint I can use to restore a used cage I bought at a garage sale- couldn't pass it up it cost $10.00 but needs some work. It's 38" tall and 20 1/2" wide and deep. I think my finches will enjoy their space in there and will give them plenty of flight space. I plan on putting natural perches from tree branches in my yard etc... but before I do that it needs a paint job. Please help so I don't use toxic paint and kill all my birds.

thanks in advance

If its a metal cage, assuming, then you might be better to sand or blast any rust off and leave it as is.

If you still think it needs painting after this I'm sure someone here can tell or if you go to a local hardware store someone should be able to let you know what is 'non-toxic'.

ok heres a link to bird safe paint. http://www.eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_paints.htm

As stated in other posts I touch up my cages all the time from minot rust etc with spray cans of any ole kinda paint, Reason being if its finches they do NOT chew on the cage or climb the bars of the cage.
I have never had an issue from this yet.

Hope the link helps.

FF- thats a good link. and just in time, my wife and I painted out bathroom last weekend and were gonna start working on the rest of the house. I need to find something without odor so it doesn't hurt the birds. I can say the primer we used was a little intoxicating...just ask the cat!!

I do all the hous epainting during summer months when its safe fo rbirds to roll outside as all my cages are on wheels, that way I can safely paint plus they get free time and I can have the house all opened up,
Then at night when they are returned I place a REVERSE BLOWING AC in there windows this sucks air OUT of the room to the outside,
