Nest Thief
Hi All, I was taking a look in my double flight and noticed a peculiar change in living quarters. There are three nests in the double flight for each pair of Zebra Finches. I have one Finch who can really build a stellar nest. The other day I removed all nests for cleaning. I promptly placed the nests in the same location with contents still inside. It appears that another pair has taken the nest which was built by the good builder. Essentially, the pairs swapped nests. Now the good nest builder left his new nest and has built his own nest in the greenery. Why would this happen? I have done this before and have never had this before.

Re: Nest Thief
I figure the nest cleaning times before were reconnaissance for the nest stealer. He was getting to know your routine. This time he went into action and secured the superior nest. The wife is very happy with him. Stellar nest builder was, of course, miffed and wanted to be sure his next superior nest would not be removed for any silly cleaning so he decided to go native and build in the shrubbery

Beginner looking to learn as much as possible before buying birds. Please be patient
