I currently have these cages available:
2ftx4ft (houses a male gouldian and female grassquit0
20x20 (society pair)
20x20 (lone society)
30x24 (budgie pair
20x20
28x18
Are these good sized cages? I was thinking of moving the female society in with the grassquit and gouldian. Leaving the societies alone because they built a nest and keeping the budies in their cage.

That make's perfect sense to me .
If and when the society pair raise a clutch the 20 by 20 cage they're in wont be big enough for the full family . You have time to figure out what to do in the meantime .
Society's do like room to fly , maybe move them to bigger accomodation after their clutch are weaned .
Hope this help's .

Re: Opinions On Who To House Where
Mick, I am thinking of moving the lone female in the 4x2 for now. (I am getting a new cage unit next month that has 4 18x30 cages) And when the society pair raises a clutch or two, move them and their babies in a big flight with the lone female.Mick M. wrote: That make's perfect sense to me .

Re: Opinions On Who To House Where
Thanks! Lol, they have been taking forever to start breeding but the male is singing alot now, and the female is in the box alot! They are clearwings, so I hope to breed 2-3 clutches this year. My goal is to breed my budgie atleast once, get 2 clutches out of my societies, and get a female gouldian and breed once this season, so I can set up a nice table at next year's bird show.Mick M. wrote: You've got it well coveredhope the society's breed well for you , good luck with them

Re: Opinions On Who To House Where
Plan for breeding.
You need extra room in the cage once the chicks fledge.
Also you need a cage to move the weaned chicks into, if you let the parents breed again.
IMHO, it is better to breed bird in individual breeding cages. This eliminates interference from other birds. Example, the society may decide to take over the gouldians nest.
If you plan to use your societies as "emergency" fosters, you also need to set them up in a breeding cage with a nest, so that they are ready in case the gouldians abandon the eggs or toss a hatchling. Again, their cage needs to be big enough for the 2 societies + fledglings.
gud luk
