Cages Made by Hand

Post by DanteD716 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:28 am

Here are a few cages I have built myself. Feel free to post yours!

This is my 4x2x2 flight. It houses my male gouldian and female grassquit, but I hope to use it to breed 1-2 pairs of gouldians, and a pair of stars. It is kind of messy in there, it is cleaning day.

This is the cage I just finished the other day. It is 30x24x30; kind of ghetto, but it works! It was a shelf thing, I put the two together, and used pieces from my old cage to go around the sides. One side panel opens as does the back panel. Also used a sheet of wood for the back, there is a gap in the front for newspaper, and a door on the right side the open. I used mesh for the part above the old cage panels. The budgies climbed up their at first, but once they realized the can't climb on the mesh they stay down away from it. In the future, I plan on using this for RTPF or Owls, I also am going to put a light strip in the top.

This is an old flight I made. It is 28x18 I believe. I added a cage front to it. The tosh is 1inch hardware cloth. I used it for zebra and soceities in the past, and for my budgie. All enjoyed it. Currently not in use.

Those birds & the homemade flight are no longer here.
Sigh. I still miss those birds. Maybe one day I will get them again

Hi Dante...I like your ingenuity...definitely not ghetto...just someone who will do anything to have more finches but who doesn't have a lot of money....I think we can all relate to that!

Thanks Lori! The other two cages were planned out, the "ghetto" cage was jus tme being bored at home and digging through the basement. Lol
