Safe Florida plants???

The plants in question:

Spanish moss - This stuff is ugly and such a weed here, but could create some nice effects within the aviary.

Ball moss - http://npsot.org/wp/story/2009/19/ (Pretty much like spanish moss, but with compact growth)

Purple wandering jew - I hear lots of people saying the variegated/green variety is safe, but what about the purple, slightly different looking variety? The stuff is also a weed here.

Resurrection fern - A tiny, pretty, epiphyte fern which "dies" without water after a period of time, but springs back to life with the slightest moisture. Grows on anything woody.

Tuberous sword fern - Another invasive weed, it does form attractive, bright green bushes on the ground. Safe?

I'm interesting in adding all of these to my outdoor 6Lx3Wx6H aviary.

Personally, I would skip the moss, especially if brought in from the outdoors...it can pose a risk in finches getting tangled in it, getting nails caught in it.

Living in Florida also I would be leary of bringing to many outdoor plants into the aviary, especially if these are exposed to birds from the wild. Domestic finches often do not have an immunity to ward off viruses or germs from wild birds.

Personally if wanting to use live plants I would go to the nursery and buy ferns and plants that are safe and clean.

this is a list of safe herbs and plants
