Help me decide on a cage

Post by finchandlovebird » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:48 am

All 3 of my 31W x 20.5D x 53" cages I have divided in half (top & bottom).

I would like a separate cage for my youngsters to live in till colored up.
Right now I have 10 youngsters.

I was looking at WAYFAIR & a 64w x 21d x65h costs $299 w/free shipping. It has a removable divider in the middle. What do you think of this price?
I had a double wide like this, but sold it ](*,) ](*,) ; now I wish I had it. I found it very hard to move though (I have carpeting in the bird room); that's why I sold it.

A regular 31W x 20.5D x 53H cage I could get Wayfair for $147. or I could wait till the Oshkosh Bird Fair in Spring (last year I bought this size for $85).

Help me please; I hate decisions. I know the expression "bigger is better"; how many young guys could live in a double wide comfortably? 31 Wide?

I like the double wide for the exercise that the young birds get flying back and forth, and 10 youngsters (plus even more) could be quite comfortable in that cage. If you can wait till the spring fair, you could get two of the single flights and then put them together to make a double wide for far less money. Carlamay has actually done this, by having the stands modified to put the two cages together permanently. Cindy has also done this, but her method is more temporary, where she removed an end from each cage, laid those ends on top of the stand, set the cages on top of that platform, and ziptied it all together. I am going to do this with some single flights I have, as then I can always return them to singles if needed. Plus, I think it is easier to resell single flights than double flights.

Here are pics of my big joined cages...I have also joined smaller ones for fledged babies. I bought my big ones from Centurion Cages. Originally bought 2 at the Mart, liked them so much, I ordered 2 more!

OH, such great ideas! Thanks. I think I'll wait till spring bird fair & buy a single flight (cheap); since only one fits in my car, I'll order one on-line, and then put the two together.

In the meantime, would 10 little guys in a single flight be too much??????
