I had 5 society finches and decided to add another one to the group. for the past couple of days I have noticed that he sleeps on the top of the nest ,not inside with everyone else. I thought maybe the nest they were using was to small so I bought a larger finch nest hoping that would solve the problem but last night he was up on the top again. my question is are the others not accepting him or should I add another nest so their will be 2 nests. - tammy

Give them some time. When you have a bonded group sometimes it takes a little while for the other one to accept them. I am dealing with the same thing with my two new strawberry hens. The others are ignoring them.....

I completely agree, give them some time. Time is medicine!

Finches are like humans to me. They just need to figure out who this new society is before they welcome him into their tight knit flock!

Before you know it, all six of them will be crammed into their nest like happy buddies!

Congratulations on the new addition!
