adding a new finch to the group

I had 5 society finches and decided to add another one to the group. for the past couple of days I have noticed that he sleeps on the top of the nest ,not inside with everyone else. I thought maybe the nest they were using was to small so I bought a larger finch nest hoping that would solve the problem but last night he was up on the top again. my question is are the others not accepting him or should I add another nest so their will be 2 nests. - tammy

Give them some time. When you have a bonded group sometimes it takes a little while for the other one to accept them. I am dealing with the same thing with my two new strawberry hens. The others are ignoring them.....

I completely agree, give them some time. Time is medicine! :) Finches are like humans to me. They just need to figure out who this new society is before they welcome him into their tight knit flock! :) Before you know it, all six of them will be crammed into their nest like happy buddies! :) Congratulations on the new addition! =D>
