For my birthday I asked for a flight cage. Originally, we were going to go the DIY way and build our own, but that did not happen so I asked if it would be more convenient if we just bought one, and it was agreed. I got down on my laptop and started researching, even starting a thread. I originally was going to buy the A&E Double Flight Cage, but thankfully Sally linked me to a way better option at least in my situation, the HQ Double Flight Cage! So, we ordered it, and it came in April 5th. After school me and my brother built it and went to sleep. The next morning, April 6, my birthday, my sister drove me to a hobby shop and the pet store to buy accessories for the bird cage. At home, the family had gathered for a cook out, and my aunt helped me set up the cage. We set up the perches, added decorative leaves, and covered the gap made by the tray with two pieces of wood. Then we introduced the birds, first Apollo and then Kiwi and Plum. At first, they could not fly from either side so I added a dowel in the middle of the flight temporarily to help them get across the cage, and after a few minutes they were flying across the cage with ease! I will remove the dowel in a day or so, when they get used to flying across the flight.
Thanks Sally! Here is quoted what she stated about the flight.
Sally wrote: I have the HQ double flight--they look the same, so don't know what the difference is, other than price. I have an older model, it has the two large doors, but there are also four feeder doors on the front, so I can hang seed hoppers on the outside. I love it. I rarely have an escapee, but that is where the divider comes in handy. You shoo all the birds to one side, put in the divider, and then you can work all you want on the other side without danger of an escapee. If I just want quick access to the cage, I hold a large net in front of the door while I reach in, so even if a bird tries to get out, all it does is fly into the net.
