This is the one that I use for my zebras:

This is a nice home made nestbox

I partially prebuild it by filling part way with nesting material and making a depression in the middle for the eggs. The birds can finish it up if they want to, or use it as is.

The plastic nest box Gary showed you is great.

- attach/remove in a moment to the side of the cage (I love this!)
- easily washed
- large area for many hatchlings

I have used coconuts pretty faithfully over the years. They do scrub up, but... they never truly scrub up. They split (moisture from chicks). They don't always handle large clutches. Depth can be an issue. If you're not 100% on top of the situation, and the nest gets too full, chicks can fall.

These plastic nest boxes address all of these concerns!

For some birds, I would prefer this box over the ABBA box, as it is a little deeper. More privacy and less likely to accidentally drag out a hatchling.

This is my absolute favorite basic finch nest design.

http://www.ringneckdove.com/Wilmer's%20 ... h_nest.htm>

Two pieces of cardboard and some tape and you are ready to go. Once you build one and get a feel for how to work the dimensions, you can make it deeper, wider, longer, whatever you want. And changing the nest opening to whatever the birds like is really easy.

It's wonderfully inexpensive.
It's completely adaptable to whatever size you want.
After it's used, just throw it away and make a new one.

I use this one that Gary mentioned for my Gouldians: Image

I like how I can peek in to check on them and it's easy to access, since you hang it on the outside.
