Hi everyone, I'm new, my name is Lisa and I live in santa monica california, I currently have 2 canaries, 1 cocktiel, and i cordon blue male and lady goud female. My 2 finches are housed together and get along great each of their mates died a whild ago so I joined them together. What I want to do now is get a big flight cage and would like to get 2 more codon blues, another pair of goud, and 2 society finches. But I do NOT want to breed them just want to enjoy them, so I know NO nests, about what size cage would you suggest for these 6 birds? would you add them in any particulair order? Thanks in advance, I look forward to everyones answers. :D

Be careful with adding two more Cordon Bleus. If there are two males in the cage, they will usually fight. I was told once I could put two pairs of Cordon Bleus together in a cage, and they fought something awful, had to separate them immediately.

I just reread your posting, and it sounds like you just want to put the 6 new birds in the large cage. :? If that is the case, with a pair each of Cordon Bleus, Gouldians, and Societies, I would recommend the HQ single flight cage, which is about 32x21x35 and comes with its own stand. The other option would be the economy flight cage which is 30x18x36.

The first cage can be seen at www.hqbirdcages.com, and the second at www.birdandcage.com. If you decide on either of these, shop around, as prices vary.

With the Societies, you could get two males, and then you definitely don't have to worry about eggs.

I agree with Sally, rather add one more Cordon Bleu Female and one more Gould. The rest of the birds will do fine together

Whats your opinions about Owls, I have my eye on a couple and they are not cheap here in Japan...but I may swing in the direction of a couple more Javas.

I love Javas, great personalities

Do you have a pair of RCCBs and a pair of BCCBs in the same cage? Are they getting along? When I had 2 pair BCCBs together, they really fought.

yes they are in the same cage, and I'm happy to report that there is no fighting. I had the single male (his mate passes a year ago) in 1 cage, when I got my aviary I bought a pair of RCCB, when my single male saw and heard them from his cage he went wild, he started doing his breeding dance ect. I felt so bad, so I got him a girlfriend female BCCB, when I put her in his cage all he did was chase her, she was not having fun. so I put her in the aviary, the RCCD weren't mean to her but they did not take her in  . so after a few weeks I decided to join the single male BCCB to the aviary and all has been well, very peaceful, the RCCB stick together and the BCCB stick together, so it was one big happy ending.

Awe that's always a good thing. I wish all the species of fincheswere able to live together, that way all we would have to do is build a huge aviary and everything would be good.
