Introducing two males?

So, it's finally time for my gorgeous isabel shaft-tail Starbuck to come out of quarantine!

I'm going to introduce him to my other male, Mr. Chicken, to be companions, as the only bird my crazy hen Devil won't try to maul is her best friend Blotchy... (Not gonna break up a set that gets along to try something new!)

That means that Mr. Chicken and Starby really, really need to get along... [-o<

My current plan is to put Mr. Chicken in a Petco white flight and place him next to Starbuck for a few days away from the girls, so that it's only the two of them and they can get used to each other without being able to get into fights. Then I'll combine them into one cage, with perches rearranged, and let them settle together in a small space before releasing them into the much bigger flight (again with rearranged perches).

But is that just overkill? Any tips on combining two males of a pushy species would be really appreciated!

Well, they're in the same Petco flight now and so far no feathers have been lost! There's quite a bit of head bobbing and squawking at each other, but it looks to be mostly posturing.

A teeny bit of beak jousting, but they're currently on the same perch, both preening, so I think we have some good signs here!

But I don't want to count my chickens yet... [-o<
