Father and Son caged together

Post by FutureFinch » Sun Dec 08, 2013 3:06 pm

I have a question.

I have a Zebrafinch with her daughter caged along with a cutthroat finch lady and it seems girls caged together seems to go along fine.

But what about Father and Son? can they be caged together?

At the moment the Father is still in the big aviary alone, it's inside but not heated.

The place where the cages are is possible to heat up. So if it gets colder i'm thinking about putting this Father with his son caged for the winter, if that ends all the birds go in aviary's again.

How big of a cage would the father and son be housed? If there are not hens in site, they'll do better, but it's sometimes a gamble with zebras. They can fight aggressively or get along well, depending on the set up and their individual personalities. Most zebras can be aggressive, but are definitely aggressive if the opposite sex is around. If you try to put the two males togather, I'd put them in a different cage from the one either finch stays in now. Put perches on both ends of the flight and put various food and water dishes at opposite ends, so they don't have to fight over territory or food etc.
