My aviary floor

here's a pic of the floor of my aviary. showing some of the native australian shrubs and bushes that I have planted in there. there are also a couple of ferns and some seeding plants that the birds love to demolish.
cant wait for the plants to grow more so that the birds are able to start nesting where they want to instead of just using the nests that I supply.
I guess I'm after that natural type look/feel to the aviary.

Get some climbers up those tin walls or put some pictures of eggs and chicks up to give them a hint what's expected.

What a nice setup you have created.

JB, that plant is under cover so that it can grow back to its original size, it was once 3foot high and about the same around, the finches love eating it and ripping it to bits for their nests lol. its some sort of fern but I cant remember the name, she who must be obeyed let me steal it from her shadehouse lol

Ihave lots more plants to go in there, but am having to wait as I have so may birds either sitting on eggs or raising young at the moment and I dont want to disturb any of them.
on the back wall of the aviary, where the nests are I am going to plant honeysuckly and let it climb up on the wire. planning to add a second layer of wire though with approx 4" to 5 " between both pieces of wire. reason for this is so that once the honeysuckle has grown over the wire it should provide the birds with somewhere to build their nests with a bit more privacy. there are also a few herbs that will be planted out soon and a bamboo type plant as well. if only it was legal here to grow pampas grass, the birds love using that as the lining for the nests.

nothing new has been added to the aviary. only got home yesterday after 4 weeks away at work, have 7 days off now and then back to work for another 2 weeks. so I'm afraid that there wont be much done to change the aviary this time.

Mickp, I can see that you like to use any excuse to get the wheelbarrow into your pics - lol. It's almost like the childrens book, Where's Waldo.

keep this quiet pls.
that wheel barrow is actually my sloth seat when I'm in the backyard. she who must be obeyed thinks that I have been busy if it is moved around occasionly. so......I move it then sit in it
I reckon she has caught on by now but just hasnt said anything yet
