Housing zebras and goulds together

I am picking up another pair of gouldians tommorow. I am out of standard flight cages. I have 6 (5 female, 1 male) non-nesting zebras in a 30x18x54 cage. Would it be a bad idea to house the goulds with them until I want them to nest? Thanks in advance! J

I would not, zebras tend to be territorial even of perches, food dishes, swings. Is the cage 54 long or 54 high?
If getting new birds it is recommended quarantining them from the established flock for a period of 2 to 4 weeks.

If the cage is 54 long then it is max out anyway, if it's 54 high then you have way too many birds in there already. I would not put gouldian's with zebra's together.
As Cindy said, the new birds should be quarantined first before exposing them to any of your flock.

Happy New Year!

By now, you probably already picked up the new pair of gouldians. I personally would not keep the gouldians with the zebras. Gouldians are a much more docile species and zebras can be bullies. Stress can kill!

Ditto on the quarantine, though ultimately, the choice and decision to do so is yours. Good luck and congratulations on the new birds.

Dont go all caps on me wikifam, I didn't.

I drove an hour to Houston for another cage, and I have the new guys separate in my office. I am confident about them as they came from the house of a friend, and I have been looking at them for the last year. He did not use Scatt though, so I dosed them prophylactically, but this pair will stay in my office anyway.
