Letting Go - In the new aviary

We have put the new aviary up today. Pics will come when i set it up in a few days.

My question is: When it is time to move the birds, do I let them all go in at once or do I do it a pair at a time, and if so, how much time in between?

I have a big carry box that I can fill with them all and do it all at once, but i just need to know which way is best.

Getting close now.....very excited !!!

I would put them all in at once before any of them have a chance to claim any turf. There will be bickering so watch and be ready for it. In time they should settle down.
good luck

I totally agree with Debbie. Rather introduce them all at once so that there is fair competition over roosting etc. My birds get very protective over 'their spot' and new birds have to fall in with the pecking order.

Very exciting!!! :D =D>

Woooooo!! I'm excited!

And I totally think all at once too so the first pairs don't claim "this" to be "theirs" at least if its together they will be confused that its their new home so they'll figure it out together!

Thanks lovely people =D>

All at once it is.

Damn weather, it's going you climb back up to 40 next week so I am going to have to wait a bit longer till I put them out. It's early summer here so I guess there is a lot more to come. I will keep an eye on it.

Woop Woop!!

Mandie, I really hope it cools down for you all soon!

It's 35'C my side at the moment and it's horrid. I don't know how you guys down in Aus have been managing through the 40'+ heat waves - this weather is unreal!

Another week of heat ahead of us

The aviary is finished ready to go but the weather isn't. It's been so hot here that even the trees have lost their fried leaves. My garden looks like a desert of dead flowers, even the grass is fried.

Now it's pouring rain today but it's still early hot in the air. Yesterday we had the air conditioning on, today it rains!! Go figure.

I am getting forecasts for a week she's ahead so day by day it might get closer to the big release day.

Fingers crossed.

chirpy I'm anxious + 10 =D> I'm so scared they are going you get cooked. We are going to buy some shade cloth to cover the open sections to keep it cooler if necessary.

I need you to stay calm for both of us, no need for two emotional wrecks =)) =))

I AM ONE HOT AUSSIE SHIELA !!!! Oh boy, you should see how sunburnt I am, I was only in the sun for 20 minutes and I am cooked.

Today was 39 and pretty much the same for the week ahead. Every day I check the weather for the week ahead it shows me another high 30's day.

I will never get these birds into the aviary before Winter at this pace.

The sprinkler is up on the Zebra cage again, it is just too hot so it is the only way we can cool them down. I really don't want to get my next water bill.
