Cage accessorizing for societies?
Ok, their cage looks like it is just that...a cage.
They have 2 large perches, plenty of open flying space. Millet area, etc.
I want to add a few natural things for them.
I did give them some long dry grass that I got online and they have been busy all day trying to build a nest on a branch....with no success of course because it keeps falling off....
But it is stimulating their minds.
Other than a nesting box(and yes, I know if I add that...they will breed).... what else could I add for it to be a natural habitat or as natural as I can make a cage.

What I find works best are fake plants. I pick mine up at the $ store. Little guys love it and can fiddle around with them for hours. I'll try to send a picture to show you what it looks like. Hope picture come through alright.
When plants get poopy, they can be taken out and washed. When you get sick of them, you can get different ones and re decorate. As easy as that.

My guys love fake plants too. They also love fake ivy vines. The use the vines as perches and fiddle with the ivy leaves.

katlovesaandw YUP! Mine have fake plants at first they are scared until one is hopping on it. They keep trying to move it or shove it around for "nest" but its stuff so it just bounces back. They fiddle with it all day.
I got some flower ones the other day at $ store as they love it! Its really cute when they play in it
I also have a swing that they have finally started to play in. Its not really a natural aspect but they like to leap as fly off it like a trampoline almost. I got old sticks from fat millets hanging and they like to grab onto them and chew on the twig. I just leave it in there after they tear it up and its like cascading twigs

Mine love their swing, they are always on it, mine is quite big and they all get on it at once. They love their ladders as well. Also, fake plants, they play in them, i am sure they are playing hide n seek lol
I wouldn't bother with toys that you would use for a budgie, they don't seem to enjoy those at all.
Have fun setting up

Re: Cage accessorizing for societies?
I wasn't planning on any toys, didn't think they would like those.
Will grab a swing, large one since mine are always together.
Fester is the guinea pig here. Not sure if he wants to or if his parents make him!LOL
But, anytime new stuff is put in...he is sent down to check it out. Once he deems it safe or ok.... then rest will check.

Re: Cage accessorizing for societies?
katlovesaandw exactly how it is here. They will flutter around it... not on it or near it they are curious but scared. George will be the first to land on it... explore... "ITS OKAY GUYS" yet still they are scared. I think they get a little jealous of how much fun she is having so they get in on it lol
Yes and try the swing they aren't expensive
