Petco won't ship to Canada...

Post by lovezebs » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:33 am

Darn it!!!
I tried to order two white petco flights (30/18/18) through Amazon .com. Didn't think there would be a problem. Well guess what? They will not ship the blasted cages to Canada.

URRGGH!!!
I was counting on getting these two flights, one for my terrorists and one for my new greens. Now what? They don't have these on Amazon.ca... ~X( ~X(
Any thoughts , or ideas?

What about other bird supply online stores? Have you ordered from anything online that sells cages? I know someone mentioned ladygouldian ships, to Canada, I think, but I'm not sure. Good Luck,
The other option, is to make your own from a home supply store, but that would take some work.

Prevue has a nearly identical cage. The difference I found is the Prevue has lighter gauge wire in a narrower spacing. The Prevue is usually a few dollars more, depending on where you find it.
I do like that cage style - it's a good size (not too small for them or too big for my living room) and the door placement is very convenient.

I'd get that cage mayble linked. It's very similar to the Petco cage and the price is good.

I just saw this at the birdcages4less. They ship outside the U.S.
Here is the link.

Hi. Just checked out the Prevue cage. Right size, but almost double the price of the Petco flight. Petco- under 38.00
Prevue- over 60.00
:x
As to Cages for less... Less what? I wonder..... Expensive!!!
Deborah, how on earth would I make me a cage? Something that would look nice (not like I made it) and that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg??? Can one actually buy panels of cage bars? Or does one have to go with wood and a small variety of something like chick wire?
Thanks for ideas folks. I should just send one of you a money order to order over there and ship up here.... But God only knows how much the shipping would be.
=)) =)) =))

I think $60 is a good price and the Prevue cage is sturdier than the Petco ones. However, if you add shipping from the U.S., if someone bought one for you, it would probably cost the same.
Regarding making a cage, I've never made one, but there are threads on the forum where people made their own flight cages. Most used wood frames and 3/4 inch pvc wire or plastic 3/4 inch wire. I think you can get most of the items from a home hardware store. I don't know if any of the bird supply companies sell the coated 3/4 inch wire we see on most finch cages.

Thanks Deb.
Ah well, it was a thought anyway... If I built something, the poor birdies would be ashamed to bring their friends home. LOL.
I found something else on http://www.jalPets.com. I've never heared of them before and can't seem to find any customer ratings or revues about this flight jk611. Could you all take a look and tell me what you think? It costs almost the same as the smaller Prevue flight. Now if I got two of these, it would defenitely give the kids more flying room.

Didn't look to see if they will ship to Canada, but their prices are quite good in my opinion.

Thanks Colt.
I have found quite a few cages that I like on e-bay. And guess what? Everyone that I went ooh-ahh over, do not ship to Canada. It's beyond frustrating!!! ~X( ~X( ~X( Just don't get it. You would think they would want customers up here too.

just remember when it comes to cages and materials used to build the cage...Price matters...you get what you pay for...If you want some cheap thing that is going to fall apart save your money get a box and tape the sides...be sure to poke a few holes in it.....

Hopefully they can. I'm curious now...

*Edited* They do but there is an extra fee for shipping out of the US.

Lovezebs,

Where are you at? Would a day trip to the states be possible? If you were in Toronto area or Windsor, it might be less for you to make a day trip to the States and pick up several cages at once.

the jalpets.com site looks interesting but they don't have any cages that are very long. Remember that most finches would lather have a long cage then a tall cage, the more floor space the better.

Heya.
learning finch... Real cute! Some 'folks' need to be in a duct taped box, forgo the holes. There's no harm in wanting a good cage and yet also looking for a good deal. =P~

Hi Colt.
I will have to look at that site again. I just glanced at things before. I looked on e-bay, and they have like groups of four or six cages that you can wire and make into lovely sized flights. I want some. LOL.

Hi Rob.
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for comments. The flights I was looking at on jalpets were the jk611, that seemed quite spacious.
As for a trip to Toronto... A bit far to go for me, lol. I'm in Calgary Alberta. Are you a fellow Canuck by any chance?

Lovezebs

Thanks for the welcome. Would have been around earlier but the forum didn't like my service provider at sign up.

I actually live in Southeast Michigan so that's what gave me the idea of a day trip from Canada. I'd imagine the closes big US city to you would be Great Falls and that's way more of a drive then necessary!

The JK611 looks like it would be a decent cage and if you felt creative, I imagine you could attach two of them together and make one nice long flight style cage. What are you planning on keeping in there?

Rob
