Great info here.....
I am going to buy a X-large flight cage. I have looked at the size I will need on the finch calculator. My question is can I house 6 gouldians and 2 society finches together during non-breeding time. I see they are in the passive end for finches?
I realize this has been asked b4 but have seen a few different thoughts on this.
Thanks
Oz

Hi Oz!
I've housed gouldians and society finches together, so as long as you opt for a really large cage AND the dynamics are good among these particular individuals, I think you should be just fine.

There are a couple schools of thought on integration. Assuming you had them all currently housed as pairs, you could toss everyone in at once and it would be super stressful for a shorter period of time. Or you could integrate one pair at a time. So it would be less stressful over a slightly longer period of time.

Of course, if you have more than one pair housed together currently, that would change the equation. It's really up to you and what you think is best for these specific individuals.

I tend to prefer the one pair at a time approach for integrations. It makes it easier to monitor dynamics to ensure everyone is getting along.
