Hi All!

Well our 3 small juveniles are eating, drinking and flying and hopping around on their own and
from what I have read once they reach this stage in their young lives, it is time to move them into
their own cage.

Mom and dad are in another. I'm watching the kids and they seem ok in their new place! lol

On the other hand, Dad is Chasing Mom around the cage like crazy! She is staying away from him and the girl is Fast!

Is he chasing her to mate or in aggression?

I'm still trying to learn all this stuff since this is my first time owning Society Finches!

(ps. still wondering if my 3 youngsters are females or males)

Hmmm, I'm no expert, but those look like Zebra finches to me. They are cute, though!

Zebras :)

Males do that (chase) sometimes. Some males do it a lot. Hide their female for two mins and they go crazy calling for her. Then let them see her and the chasing starts again. Who know what goes through those little bird brains. Most of the time it's probably just play. Is he plucking/attacking her? Or just chasing?

I'm guessing that if your juveniles are that age dad is getting "ideas" again! Mom is not having any part of it yet...saying, "hey, I just gave you babies. I need a little break!" Funny! They babies are cute. I can't tell if they're male or female yet. I'm better at it when they get older. :D

Thanks for your input everyone!!! He is not attacking her, he's just chasing her every now and then. Right now they are sitting together.
My babies (I call them girls for now) are taking a nap.
Toooooo cute I love them

I will put more pics as they get bigger to see uf u can tell sexes

Yes those are definitely zebra finches, not societies. Males often chase the hen when they are ready to breed. And some just do it because that's how they are.

Regarding sexing the juveniles, you will be able to tell the males apart rather quickly as they will start to develop little orange cheeks like their dad.
