It is about a 3.5-4 hour drive each way for me. I have a truck, but it looks like I might need my horse trailer to haul it, as it is in six pieces (front, back, 2 sides, top, bottom). My horse trailer is an extra tall 3-horse, so it doesn't help with the gas mileage, and my truck is a 220,000 mile 1998 Ford F-150. The gas would really add to the price.

I did send an email asking some questions about it--what size mesh, can it be outside, one photo looks like a metal roof, others look like mesh roof. We'll see.

If any forum members are in the Houston area, Bellville is west on I-10 to Sealy, then north on 36 to Bellville. I know Jason in TX is south of Houston, trying to think who else is in the area.

Jason in TX KarenB

That last post I made didn't mention Jason properly, so I'll try again, and I just realized that Karen is in Cypress, really not far at all.

Welllll......Karen, you WERE the first one I thought of when I saw it and looked up the city. It's only about a 45 minute trip for you.

Like I said before, If I still lived in Houston, it'd already be set up on my back patio :(

Hope someone decides to get it if it is good quality, would make for a great flight for some African waxbills!!

That thing is beautiful, but after the traumatic snake incident I wont keep an outdoor aviary.

I've sent each of you a copy of the emails I've exchanged with this gentleman. I measured on my truck, which has a normal-sized bed, and this aviary could be loaded on a truck. With the tailgate down, only a few inches of the sides, top, and bottom extend onto the tailgate. The front and back would have to lay on top of the sides of the bed, and then would extend further on the tailgate but not hanging off and about 6" out each side (about the same as my side mirrors, so no safety problem. It woiuld have to be secured very well, of course, but that should not present a problem.

If used outdoors, you would need to add a safety catch, but that could be done. If used indoors, you would have to make certain the front and back panels would go through your house doors (need at least 86" clearance).
