Now, where before I partially covered them at night ( Goulds) they will be okay if I do not? This cage is MUCH too big to cover. actually bigger than I anticipated! Lol! I measured it out before I ordered it, but to see it in person, WOW! My husband has only saw a picture I texted him, but he said he better check into a Hotel tonight, in one of those extended stay suites. Lol!!

That looks ideal! Dont sweat the cover. I have never covered any bird, and all of them get it on. Mine are on light timers in a moderate traffic area with no lights on.

Post a link to where you got the cage. I like it!

Very nice cage, Tammy.
As for covering... if you put a lot of greenery at the top, with some perches in it, your birdies will just go there to sleep. Also if you put a sheet or something right over the top, it will block room light in the evening from disturbing them (or hubby, if he decides to move in :-D).

Sweet set up! I love it! My OCD would never allow me to place a finch cage by a mirror though lol. I can't wait to have enough space to make something like that. It would be a great excuse to get more finches too.

Looks fabulous! Very exciting!

I wouldn't worry about covering the cage if they're in a fairly quiet area with normal lighting hours. (i.e. if I had a bird in my kitchen and great room, they'd be all messed up as I have the lights on because work in there all night in many cases. So that wouldn't be happy because they'd have bright sunlight in the day and lights on at night.)

But if you have a relatively normal schedule in that area, with lights on/daylight in the day and darkness at night, you shouldn't have any problems.

I used to cover my cages, but then once, I had a bird whose toenail got caught up on a fiber on the fleece blanket I had used.
I was there when it happened and helped free him straight away, but if he'd been there all night, there's no telling if he'd have died or broken a leg or whatnot. So after that, I stopped covering. It's not worth an injury. (And now, my guys are in an internal room without windows, so I'm the sun god and control the lights. So there's no reason to cover.)
Lesson: if you use a blanket, ensure it's smooth with a tight weave and without anything to get caught on like fleece.

Tammie, nice cage; you will love it. Don't need to cover it though. I will say that the beautiful mirror will get totally splattered with bird stuff; as long as you can move the cage to clean the mirror you'll be alright :D
