Opinions on feeder/waterer

I'm the process of building my display flight (it's an almost 8ft tall repurposed corner TV cabinet), and am looking to put in some kind of wild-bird-type seed feeder for their seed. I saw this nifty (and quite pretty!) setup, and wondered what you guys thought of it. I love that it has a feeder and a waterer, and I can hang it from the top of the aviary very easily. I'll also be doing a daily eggfood/salad dish on the bottom, as well as a large, shallow bowl for bathing, so it wouldn't be their only source of water.

Here's a picture of my flight-in-progress. This was from a week or so ago- it now has the back walls/doors installed, as well as the hardware on the front bottom door (hinges and knobs).

I also have my new birds waiting to come home- a pair of blue backed/black headed/purple breasted goulds, a pair of owls, and another society! I'm extremely excited to have my years-in-the-making dream coming true, at last!

The feeder/waterer looks like it would work for small waxbills, but I'm not sure about Society's. I can't tell if it is the smaller type people use for the smaller wild finches and such. If it will hold a Society on the edge to drink and/or eat, it would be a nice setup. Post pics when you get the flight finished.

The specs show it holds 22oz of water or 1.5lb of seed. The photo shows a goldfinch and a cardinal sitting on the edge... unless it's a photoshop (entirely possible!), I'd say it should work size-wise!

I think those feeders would work. How easy would they be to clean? I like to run mine through the dishwasher every so often, to give it a really good cleaning.

Good point Todd made. The ones you show are pretty pricey. I've used "outdoor bird feeders" that are shaped like a gazebo. Your new aviary really looks great. Good luck to you.

Those may be a little pricey, but they will be very attractive in that aviary. I love the way you are converting that former entertainment center into a flight for your birds. Can't wait to see it finished!
