HI everyone, I have the hq double flight cage and it is in my family room, where I tend to stay up til about 11pm or so, I have never covered any of my birds but now with new birds, I was wondering if this is disturbing to them...I bought a cover (from the fabic store) and tried draping it over just the front and part of the top of the cage, they seemed a little freaked out, and again tonite I tried again and I heard alot of fluttering...maybe this is just too stressful for them, please if anyone has some experience with or without covering the cage I would like to hear about it. thank you everyone in advance.

I dont cover my finches i dont think ppl really do that except for like parakeets. I leave a nighlite on at night for them because for some reason my finches flutter around if i turn the lights out before they get a chance to go in there nests.

They are bound to panic if you cover over...they are not as tame and stable as parrots.Better if your cage is in a quiet undisturbed area in the first place.

I have the single HQ flight cage and I do cover my Finches because the cage is on the pathway to the bathroom and covering them provides a nice visual barrier from motion and bright light when we make those night trips to the bathroom. I don't throw the cover over the cage....I have some hooks on the ends of the fabric and hook it to the front of the cage. Once I cover them for the night they start talking in their "night voices"....so cute!

If you creep up quietly when you hear their 'night voices' and snatch away the cloth....bet your life they are on the floor in a circle with a poker game going on.
