Well after much internal debate I gave decided to change my set up a bit and turn the bird room into am aviary. I still have cages incase I want to separate a pair from the rest of the flock. The birds seem to love it and I'm happy i made this decision. The make WC bronze winged mannikins are singing and dancing and all the birds love it. There are several feeding stations and ample room to fly, nest choices and perches. So far so good. Might add a couple pairs of zebras and some societies. There is currently:

15 wild caught bronze wing mannikins
3 wc orange weavers
1 pair of wc red bishops
6 border canaries
2 pairs of diamond doves.

There is one door to enter, and the purge walk-through is half glass (bottom) and half 1/4 inch mesh for viewing. Complete with natural perches and plants!

Very nice set up! =D> What do you use on the floor? How will you clean? etc? I've thought about turning my bird room into an indoor aviary, but I can't figure out those two issues.

Happy birds!

Linoleum could make a simple floor. Sweep and mop. Sure you could get a nice pattern / print suitable for birds.

Thanks ladies!

The floor is concrete since it is in the basement. Easily swept and mopped!

Nice set up! Since I moved my birds into their outdoor aviary they look like they are "smiling" all the time! Lots of singing and flitting about. Hope you enjoy your new bird room as much as they will. =D>

Thank you Jenny! I think an aviary is always best. The more room the better. I don't think cages were good for my imports, they went from bring free to cages and you could tell it wasn't good for them. I'm sure all the birds will benefit from it

LOVE IT!!!
I think that's the best idea ever. Looks like Dylan had some influence on you.

Are you sure you want to throw some Zebras into the mixture?

Your birds are probably singing 'Oh Happy Day. ..'

I would not put zebras with BWM's since both species are aggressive and take over the space. They could be lethal toward each other. Great idea though, and I'm sure the BWMs love, love, love it!! =D> =D>

Deborah i know both tend to be pushy but honestly it's so much space i think they'll stay out of each others way. Plus the BWM stick to their own. They haven't bothered anybody. But we will see, they may go rogue! But yes they are enjoying it! Singing and hopping, making nests and just enjoying the space. This would be great for some waxbills
