Cheapest place to get faux plant vines BESIDES Dollar store?

So when we got the big cage, I got vines at the Dollar Tree based on recommendations from you.

They are wearing out and time to replace. Well, DT doesn't have them anymore.
Walmart doesn't carry them anymore.

Checked Joann's and I am not paying $14 for 1.

I can get them on eBay for $4 ea.

Anyone have a place to get them that is cheaper than that?

I don't know if you have Hobby Lobby up there. That is where I get my artificial plants. They have frequent 50% off sales, so I watch for those when I need to get more. Michaels is another place, though not as cheap as Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby will be more than the Dollar store for sure, but the plants there are fuller, stronger, and will last longer.

I agree with Sally. I get mine on the 50% sale at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. They last for quite a while, so I'm not buying them that often. I think the last ones lasted about two years, with periodic removal and hosing them down.

Oh my goodness. This question couldn't come at a better time!

My new cockatiel, Abby, went a bit nutty yesterday when she discovered the delight of plucking the leaves off the vines!

She severed the leaf stems right at the base so I can't fix them properly. (Though that won't stop me from trying! Perhaps a little dab of super glue will do the trick.)

And I just caught her at it again about 30 sec ago. LOL. I redirected her and put some pinata shredding toys in those spots, but it'll take a while to eliminate what's clearly a very delightful activity for her. So I suspect we'll need some more vines in the interim! :?

Also, try pet stores that have aquarium supplies. They sometimes have plastic plants for "seaweed" in fish tanks, that work out OK if hung upside down from the top of your cages.

I got mine from Amazon. 12 ft for $3. They ship from Hong Kong so it takes about 3-weeks to arrive, but very worth it.

I have a thrift store around me that has tons of greenery... I refused to pay money for something they are going to just poop all over... I got tons of it for less than 20.00... Hobby lobby and Michaels even at 50% off are to much to pay in my opinion... I'm talking about vines and bushes for like 3.00 or less..

I get mine @ the Dollar Tree too, but it'* or miss there. We do not have a Hobby Lobby, so I will suggest AC Moore...but I am not sure if they are in your area. I will be restocking within the next 2 weeks too :)

So, I do check out thrift stores but nada.

But, if you have an IKEA near you. I found LONG faux ivy vines there for $4.99. Like seriously 8+ feet. I used 2 in the cage and it has twice the greenery it did before. I had to drape and twist it around branches, etc.

Spent $10 and filled the cage. Will buy 2 more next time I go and put away for next time. Love IKEA but they don't seem to keep the stuff I LOVE!LOL I have learned to buy spares and store.

I agree. Get on Amazon. I just ordered some beautiful plants very cheaply. You can sort by color, etc to narrow down your results too.

Hi Mia.
Regarding your plastic eating Tiel, I think plastic plants are not really recommended for hook bills, because they can and will actually nibble and ingest bits and pieces, which can cause all sorts of problems. Just a cautionary word.

P.S. I buy my greenery at different $ Stores, and sometimes at Michael's, when they go on sale. I didn't know that IKEA , carried these things. Also, we have a store called Vallue Village, which is a huge second hand store. They usually have arm fulls of the stuff. I also wash my greenery, by soaking in a water and vinegar solution, then rinsing off.

lovezebs - Yeah, that was a concern for me too.

Fortunately, it appears she's just chewing the vines (rather ingesting.)
I came up with a super easy solution though to get Abby to stop destroying my foliage: bitter apple spray.

So I took them outside and sprayed.
Works like a charm (and bitter apple spray is non-toxic. Just tastes terrible.)
