Which Paint is safe?

Hello,
I just received 6 cages for my finches. They are in pretty good shape except they have a little rust at the bottom (underneath the tray).

I wanted to paint these, so I need to know which paints are safe to use?
I'm guessing they will be spray paints, just not sure if some will keep giving off fumes. I wanted to paint them today so that way they can air out for at least 2-3 weeks when the baby birds should be able to leave the parents.

glad you found that thread.
I use water based acrylics to paint anything that my birds will be around.
with rust you need to make sure it is all cleaned off before painting over it, steel wool is one of the best things available for rust removal from bird cages
