Hi

I wonder if anyone can help in regards to lighting in my bird room.

these are the lights I have been recommended to use but just wondered if anyone had used any other bulbs.

Radium Biosun 6500k 36 watt full spectrum fluorescent tubes.

Will these bulbs produce the right lighting to help as in uv lighting and helping with colouring up and moulting? or would I need to purchase another type of strip light to help with this? I have 2 lighting units on the wall that will take T8 strip bulbs so wondered if both of these lights were good to use or to use one of these and maybe just a specific UVB type bulb?

Cheers

Trebsy37 I see you have not had aa response yet to your question about lighting. I am not familiar with the bulbs you are asking about.
I am not a lighting expert but my understanding is the color spectrum - [color rating index -CRI] should be above 90 preferably 95 to 98 and the color temperature 5000k is good but no to use over 5700k as it can lead to molting problems.
Did you try searching the forum about lighting? There is a lot of great information on the topic from members here.

I would say that the 6500K is too high for our birds. Most lighting articles say that the Kelvin should be at 5000K but no more than 5700K. 6500K is more for reptiles than birds.

I recently purchased some bulbs that are 5000K and 98 CRI, which should be close to ideal for birds. Then, if I add a black light to provide balance to the lighting, I'm hoping this will be the best combination. I actually purchased these bulbs over a month ago, but since I've had a family emergency, the bulbs are still in the packing box! I hope to have time soon to be able to set them up in my bird room.

The philips graphica would be a better option, cri is about 97 and colour 950 (5,300K)

You also need to make sure you have the correct fitting/ballast, i.e electronic ballast, so there's no flicker
