Thought i`d share it. Just emailed them and asked a lot of questions since there isn`t anything available at the web site about pricing. Did anyone shop from them custom made or ready stuff yet? Please share your thoughts and pictures.

Here`s their catalog http://www.cornerslimited.com/CL_Catalog_2012.pdf

Can you post some pictures of these two companies cages` here?
I guess these two have the closest to best; cages for finches.

I would like to see how the mechanism works for flip screen secures birds inside when tray is out. Maybe a youtube video anyone?

Did you ever hear back from Corners Unlimited? I'd run across their webpage but there was so little actual information on the site - for instance they say they have a variety of ready made cages available, but not a single description, let alone prices. I figured they were a "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" type of an operation.

Sorry, I completely missed this thread when it was first posted--had some family problems at the time and missed quite a lot on the forum. I have both the Quality Cage cages and Corners Limited cages, and I love both. I bought mine used from other people, so there was no customization on my part, and I got them for great prices.

I love both designs. I have the 34x18x18 double breeder from Quality Cage and the 38x19x19 double flight cage from Cages Limited. My ideal cage would be a combination of these two.

Quality Cage--I love the fact that it is a dividable cage, came with both wire and solid dividers. Though I normally use the cage fully, I divide it when I want to catch a bird, when I want to do cleaning, and when I want to check a nest. I love the flip screen, as I don't have to worry about birds escaping while I clean a tray. I don't like the fact that the 1/2x1 mesh means I have to cut holes in the mesh to accommodate my water tubes. There are tubes that would work with this cage, but I love the ones I have. Cutting a hole means a permanent opening. I can use wire or zip ties to cover this opening, but it doesn't look the same.

Corners Limited--I love the size and looks of this cage better than the Quality Cage. However, it is not dividable, and so it is harder to catch birds and pretty impossible to check nests without the parents seeing me do it. A major cleaning means removing the birds. There is no guard when I remove trays for cleaning, which leaves a pretty big gap. I've only had a bird escape once, but it is something I always have to watch for. The wire mesh in these cages is 1/2x2, so I am able to use needle-nose pliers to pry open a space for my water tubes, and then use the pliers to return the wire to original when I want. I do have to secure the tubes in place, as they don't want to stay hung on the cage, so I secure them with mini bungee cords knotted to an even smaller size.

For those who get just one cage, lighting is no problem, but if you want to stack multiple cages, then it is a problem with the Quality Cages. I actually bought shelving units for the Quality Cages, and then I laid 4' long shop lights across the top of each two cages. With the Corners Limited cages, they stack with corner connectors that leaves just barely enough space to slip a slim under-cabinet light between cages. I like to have a light on each cage, otherwise some of them are fairly dark in my bird room. The difficulty comes in finding tubes with the proper kelvin and cri ratings for these slim fixtures.

Oh, to be rich! Then I would have Corners Limited design custom cages for me. Actually, I would only need a few cages, as I would have Corners Limited design multiple outside aviaries for me! :D 8)

Thanks for the update. I have been waffling about the Quality Cages because of the mesh size - which is even smaller in the pre-made cages, it is 1/2 x 1/2. I think - for all the reasons you mention and a couple others as well - I'm going to pass on those.

As for cages if you had unlimited money - if I were to find myself in such an unfortunate (yeah, right!) position, I would have to give serious consideration to this guy's cages.

Image

Those are just some REALLY nice cages! And not that expensive, given they are very nearly works of art.

However, given that I am still fortunate enough NOT to be suffering under the burden of wealth (yeah, right!), I think I've decided on this cage instead - that center divider is removable:

Image

I had waffled about getting the Prevue Flight cage, which, if not exactly the same as the now-discontinued Petco Finch Cage, is at least very extremely similar - but ultimately I think the convenience of having a cage that is sturdier and slightly larger to boot outweighs the initial cost savings.

The Prevue Flite Cage is 30" x18" x18", vs the Hampton, which is 37.5" x 18" x 20.5" (with the divider removed). So the Hampton is a longer and a bit taller as well - but not so tall as to be space that is essentially wasted on birds that are going to spend 90% of their time as high up as they can manage. That's in addition to being a LOT sturdier and safer/easier to stack.

Besides, if I hook two of THESE (the Prevue Hampton F075) together, not only will that be easier to do and a sturdier end product, it'll be almost 25% longer!

PLUS plus, there is a matching unit on a stand - the Prevue F070 - Which I don't have the space for atm, but who knows, in the future?

Image

Now, imagine two of those hooked together to make one ginormous run, with another 2 stacked on top, to make another ginormous run, and maybe even a 3rd tier above that.

I'm not actually sure you can stack them that high - but if you could ...

Then there is the double-height flight cage, Prevue F040, which is only $116 on Amazon atm - which is technically too tall, but if you add a bin-like thing under the top half, you could have a finch duplex - and attach two of THOSE together, properly modded to divide them in half top and bottom - again you've got a pretty good run, 2 cages for 4 to 6 birds in each half.

But I digress. Because I am NOT BREEDING THESE BIRDS. I brought home TWO LITTLE FINCHES. They are nice little pets. That's all. I do not need to be building a birdy empire.

Still ... if I did ........

OK I don't know why, but it didn't show all my images. So I'll try again. This is an example of what Affordable Custom Cages can do for you:

Image

And this is what the cages on the stand look like, Prevue F070:

And this is the double flight cage that you can divide the top and bottom halves, with some effort:

OK, it worked that time! I just ordered the F075, without the stand - just one. No birdy empire building today.

That F075 is very similar to some cages that I have that are made by HQ. Mine are 40x20x20, and I love this size. I don't know how easy this cage would be to remove the end panels for an extra-long cage, but you could try it.

It looks like all I need to do is NOT install the end panels where I want to join the cages, and zip-tie the frames together there. The frame looks to be flat, and it appears that the end panels fit between the front and back portions of the frame.

I'll know for sure when the cage actually arrives.
