Ok, so I am brand new to finches.

I have a 1mx1mx1.5m flight cage which houses a happy family of society finches and a new male "wild type" canary. In addition I also have a large hanging cage which now houses 2 male (intended to purchase a pair)European Goldfinches.

My question is, does anyone think there will be compatability issues with these 2 set ups?

I believe the goldinches are wildcaught feral birds as they are extremely skitish. Can 2 males be successfuly housed together? Will this affect thier singing ability? Will the canary cause my societies any problems down the track?

I would be a bit wary. I dont know about the goldfinches as I have never kept them. I had a problem with my canaries. I thought I had a pair but they turned out to be both females, this may have been the cause of the problem, I dont know. I had them in my largre avery with my zebras and societys they were absolutely fine for the first couple of years. If you look on the Health topic under "Can anyone help me please?" it tells you there the problems I was having.
It might just be because they were females and wanted babies or canaries might be spiteful in general, I dont know but I havnt had any more deaths since the canaries went except one which I think was perhaps coincidence. Its been two weeks now so Im hoping all is now ok. Your one canary may be ok, mine used to gang up on the other birds together.

Thanks for the response. My canary (Jesse) pretty much keeps to himself at the bottom of the cage while the societies just hang around thier nest basket up top. It is only early days though.

The golds are still flighty as, you cant comewithin 10 feet of the cage without them flipping out. Hopefully they settlke down soon.

A single male canary will probably be totally different from two broody females.Good luck.

I have kept a single male canary in a flight with a variety of finches without any issues. As long as the flight is large enough - it should not be a problem.
