Housing Goldfinches and Canaries Together?

Figured that this is a good place to ask this.

I have the F040 (31" x 20.5" x 53") that will be housing my finches as soon as I find a good home for my conure.

I'm looking to keep European Goldfinches in this flight, but am also interested in keeping canaries. Would it be possible to house these two species together, or would separate cages be necessary?

I wouldn't house more than one pair of either canaries or golds in a cage that size.

The cage size calculator says if he flips it sideways so that the length is 53, and the width is 20 you can fit 3-4 birds.... FYI.... as far as species I'm not sure!!!, but i know i bought that same size cage, and no matter how TALL it is, I still can't put more than 2 finches in it... I might flip mine sideways.... I haven't decided yet!!! LOL

i wouldnt do that unless you are interested in crossbreeding the two species. Even then i would keep them with separators in the middle and only one pair in that cage. Keeping them together will make goldf. very stressed. they are a very sensible species. You can keep them perfectly fine in separate cages.

Alright, seems best that I just keep two main cages. Thanks for the help, everyone!

Goldfinches and Canaries will breed together, so yoy might end up with mule offspring.

I know, but it can be prevented just as with a goldfinch x goldfinch pairing or canary x canary pairing.
