Parrot Cage

I'm always looking for a huge cage that would house my gouldians and fit the area I have for them. There are lots of parrot cages that would be perfect except that they're 1" spacing instead of a 1/2". Is there any way to put something around the cage to make it closer to a 1/2"?

You could possibly use mesh, but what if a bird manages to squeeze in between the two layers and gets stuck?
How big of a cage are you looking for? There are a lot of larger parrot cages intended for smaller species like cockatiels/budgies/lovebirds/parrotlets that have 1/2" spacing. If you give me the cage size you're looking for, I may be able to suggest something.

This size is perfect to replace the double flight cage I do have. KING'S CAGES Superior Line SLT 6432 PARROT CAGE 64X32X70. I've looked at tons of stuff but for whatever reason I can't find anything with 1/2" spacing. I'm open to suggestions.

This is what I have, Hq Double Flight Bird Cage 64x21x35, if you don't count the stand. maybe I could get another one and place it on top, minus the top grate, if you understand where I'm going with this. should be able to solder it together? all I know for sure is, to have an outdoor aviary would not work. we don't 'live' outside enough to enjoy it. anyway, that's another thought.

Man, that's a big cage that you're looking for! It should be hard to find a cage that size in 1/2" spacing. On the parrot forums that I use, that cage you like (the king's cage) is favorable among all the macaw/cockatoo/larger parrot owners.
If you're good with tools, it may be worth your time to build your own cage. That way you can have it exactly how you want it, and it'll be a fun project.
If you have the money to spare, there are a number of places that do custom cages.
I know that Animal Environments makes good custom cages.

A quick google search comes up with dozens of options for custom made cages. Sorry I couldn't come up with any actual suggestions for cages that large.

I have a cage that was originally for larger birds. I purchased plastic hardware cloth from the Home Depot. It's little 1/4 inch squares. I lined the cage on the INSIDE of the cage so that the birds are in contact with it....that way they cannot slip through and get stuck between the mesh and the bars. The plastic is soft enough to work with, but is strong. I've had this for over two years and it works great. I used zip ties to secure the mesh. The only thing is that the zip ties are pokey, but since the front of my cage is plexiglass it doesn't bother me.

I would take some, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to post pictures from the iPad to a post and I don't have an online picture account.
