I have never posted pictures of my aviary so I thought I would post a few for you all to see. I cleaned it up today and it was picture worthy taking! :lol

This is the screen door entrance from my house.

This is one end of the aviary with their favorite tree to perch in and their favorite perch. The perches are made with natural branches mostly. A few small dowels. It also has swings hanging from it.

This is their feeding area. On the counter I place all the free choices such as eggshells, insect food, kelp etc.... Kindof like a buffet bar.

Another favorite perching place.

And another!

Just some live plants they like to hide in.

Some swings hang from the ceiling for them. They love these!

Hope I didn't bore you too much. I love looking at the pictures you all send, I thought you might enjoy!

Perhaps pictures are deceiving.... your looks much larger to me in the pics.

I bet they love it I sure do,looks great do you keep any in cages? A lot easyer to clean with out grates to scrap,with tile I guess you can just vacuum and mop up the tile wish I could copy that at my place

I try to never have any in cages unless there is a problem.
I really built this for enjoyment and not breeding. But I have enjoyed the babies.
Clean up is not easy...... it is every day. But the floor is the least of the problems. I put paper in all target areas, sweep and change it every day, and mop once a week. It is the perches, trees and etc that are alot of trouble.

I had a little bench in there, but now I basically watch from the couch. I can see them through that large window over by the feeding station. If I sit in there, they tend to hide from me. Except for the gouldians. They are not skittish at all. I can get within inches of them. All the others are used to me being in there, but they stay their distance.

Nice pictures -thanks for sharing! What are the football shaped wicker items hanging from the ceiling? Are they nesting baskets? If so, where did you find them and what type of finches like them?

Wow....what a wonderful setup you have there.....a porch all to themselves. I love your birdie buffet...that is very creative!

Was it a hard decision to give up your porch and convert it into an aviary?

How lovely, you can watch them all year round. Mine is outside and I dont get to hardly see my birds in the winter.

Not at all. It was an open porch and my husband turned it into a sunroom. I was worried about the glass windows and someone getting hurt. I have shades that I can pull down and anytime I introduce a new bird I always do that for a day or so. They know the boundaries and so far...... no one has been hurt.

debbyloo: Those are nest. I found them at Ole Time Pottery. I have also seen them somewhere on line, but I don't remember where.
My society finches love them and so do the courdon blues. I only have two of them and would love some more. If I find the place on line I will send you an e-mail.

What a lovely setup! And how nice to have a big picture window looking right into your aviary, so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your house. To top it all off, your birds are protected from the weather. Keep the photos coming, I love seeing other people's setups.

If you find the online place where you can get those wicker nests that debbyloo asked about, please post it here, I'd like to try some, too.
