The Poor Man's Aviary...

I know there are a lot of us who wish we had the time, money, or space to place a large aviary outdoors at our home.

Well I stumbled across this jewel while looking for examples for an appropriate habitat for African Quail Finches.

Scroll to the bottom of the thread and you'll see a relatively inexpensive idea for a walk in aviary. I am seriously thinking about doing one on a smaller scale for my Amethyst Starlings during the months that they would be comfortable outdoors.

Obviously we'd need to use a smaller mesh for finches than chicken wire, but I really like this design for it's simplicity. I feel like I could put it together without having to use a lot of tools...lol Or help....

That's kinda cool.
Not too big, not too small.
I guess you could make it as small or as large as you choose .

I say, go for it.

Looks like a cool project that wouldn't be too expensive to make. Although you'd wouldn't want to make it too small as you'd have to either stoop really low or be on your knees to move around the enclosure.

Good luck if you decide to go for it :D

Well the width of one panel would probably be perfect for one pair of waxbills. I think three would be best for the starlings, but that's so long for my back yard. Two would be a bit better. Only problem would be a catch door.
